It is 21″W x 18″ tall in the frame and pictures Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Elmer Fudd & (of course) the great Bugs Bunny. It is from the 1947 Merrie Melodies catroon “Slick Hare” directed by Friz Freling. The cel was released in 1997 and the edition was limited to 350 with 35 Artists Proofs (AP1-AP35) and 20 “Hors de Commerce” (see the definition below). This piece is rare and numbered HC9 on the front & on the certificate. Signed on the back by Steve Felton, Director of Warner Bros. & Hanna-Barbera Animation Art, it has the Warner Bros. Seal on the lower right of the certificate and also has the HC9/20 on the front of the piece. Hors De Commerce prints, or HC’s as they are called in the industry, are very similar to Artist Proofs except they are only available through the artist directly. Usually there are only 25 made per edition (in this case, only 20, HC1-HC20). The artist gives these away as gifts or sells them. They are valued as Artist Proofs, or higher since they are even more rare. The term “Hors De Commerce” means “Out of Trade” in English. Please look at the pics and ask questions if necessary.
