Inspired by a scene from the episode of Batman: The Animated Series entitled “Almost Got’Im” this limited edition cel depicts a tender moment in the evolving cycle of attraction and repulsion which is the relationship between Batman and Catwoman. This limited edition cel “The Cat’s Meow”, was created to capture perhaps the most dramatic confrontation yet between the Dark Knight and Catwoman. The original character drawing was done by Juan Ortiz, and hand-inked by Laurie Dindis. This master ink line was transferred to a clear acetate sheet (or’cel’) along with Warner Bros. Seal utilizing the serigraph screen printing process. In traditional animation system, the cels were then expertly hand-painted on the reverse side. The dark, mood-setting background was painted by artist Greg Wray, and reproduced using the lithography process. Each piece is hand numbered and printed with the Warner Bros. This piece is #215 of an ultra small edition of only 350 cel released world wide. Gallery store in London, England in 1999 and has been stored in a pet-free, smoke-free, climate controlled environment. Frame size is 24″ x 21″. It’s a truly beautiful piece.
