Hand painted, hand crafted layered cel. I scoured Google Images searching through all the Chuck Jones originals that I could find, as well as an image search of this one, and what I discovered from that are 2 significant details. All of his originals for the public that I could find are signed. Meaning- when the COA for this one says “For Warner Brothers Television”, it would seem that it means it in the literal sense. I was only able to find one other Donald & Daffy curtain-call image of them in this same attire, as public pieces are all featuring either red & white stripes or solid red coats. That one is listed as a “promo piece” at AnimationAmerica, and it’s signed. The last photo here is a side by side with that one. Hence I would deduce the scarcity of this particular one is high. The art itself is 8.5×11.5.

“Bugs Bunny – The Showdown ll”, HAND- PAINTED Limited Edition Cel Signed by Friz Freleng (Warner Brothers, 1988). With Warner Brothers Studios throwing away their entire archive of production art in the early 1960s, Friz Freleng began doing original artwork and having cels created from his original drawings. This is an early hand-painted Friz Freleng limited edition cel titled The Showdown ll. Bugs Bunny plays a gun slinging cowboy here, with a nice full-figure size of 7. The cel has a Warner Brothers seal and is hand-signed by the artist, animation legend, Mr. Friz Freleng (1906 – 1995). Collecting his pre-1990s limited editions is becoming harder and harder as these editions were much smaller. Triple Matted with an opening of 12″ x 10″, and for an overall size of 19″ x 16″. Carrots in his holster — what a great gag! THIS IS A PERFECT POSE OF BUGS BUNNY HOLDING HIS GUN. THE CEL HAS THE WB SEAL OF AUTHENTICITY ON IT, AND IS A GREAT POSE.
