This comes from a top quality, 1960’s and 1970’s collection that we have been asked to sell on behalf of a client. All the records are original UK releases in Near Mint, or better, condition. VAN MORRISON Astral Weeks. 12 vinyl LP (album) – Front laminated flipback sleeve. Warner Brothers – Orange/Black. Matrix / Mother/Stamper / other dead wax data. Side 1: WS 1768A-1 1 STEREO Side 2: WS 1768B-2 T. One or two light spindle marks on the labels. Extremely light, non-sounding mark on side 2 but this does not affect the audio in any way. UK first press copy. Just extremely minor wear to the sleeve. Incredibly rare in this condition. All records are UK releases unless otherwise stated in the description above. The record may have a few light surface marks. There may be occasional light background noise and/or a few very light pops or clicks during play. The labels may have a few light spindle marks. The sleeve may have a few small creases and marks, and there may be some slight discoloration owing to the age of the item. The record may have some light surface marks. The record has been played many times and will have many noticeable surface marks. There may be constant background noise and/or some significant pops and clicks during play. The record could also have small, but more serious marks that cause the stylus to jump during play. The labels may have noticeable spindle marks and may have tears, there will be noticeable wear to the spindle hole. The sleeve will be very creased, and will have significant edge and corner wear, possibly spine or seam splits. There may be discoloration and the edges of the sleeve may be tatty with a few tears. With laminated sleeves the laminate will probably be coming away or have a very large section missing. There may also be a small to medium size piece of the sleeve missing. The following grades will only be used for low grade but extremely rare items. A detailed description of the exact condition will be provided. All gradings are visual unless a’Play grade’ section is included in the description of the item. Although visual gradings are normally accurate, very occasionally items may have audio flaws that are not immediately apparent from visual inspection alone. Any’play grading’ is carried out on a Michell Gyrodec fitted with an SME arm and Ortofon moving coil cartridge. This will usually involve playing selected test passages with specific attention being given to any visually problematic areas. Please note that we do not always test play the entire record in order to grade it. If this record was originally issued with special features such as a specific type of sleeve, poster(s), insert(s), photo(s) etc and these features are neither mentioned in the description nor shown in the photos then they are not present nor included with this copy. Original inner sleeves will be used wherever possible. Where the original inner sleeve is missing or damaged it will be replaced with an alternative. We don’t ever knowingly sell records that jump, stick or skip unless this is clearly stated in the description. All flaws such as significant damage, warping, foxing, jumps, sticks, sticker removal tears, library stamps, writing on the sleeve or labels will be detailed in the description and/or shown in the photographs of the item. (WS 1835) in 1970. Guaranteed original pressing, NOT recent reissue. Original white WB promo labels. 1A/1A first pressing etched in deadwax. Original gatefold cover with “Stoned Me” title misprint. Original and correct WB “W7″ inner sleeve. No UPC/bar code on cover. NOT record club pressing. Vinyl comes in poly audiophile protective inner sleeve. Many promo copies of Moondance have the unattractive DJ “timing strip” on the front cover, which really detracts from the beauty of the album–this one does not have that feature. Cover is very nice. Moondance covers are notorious for being prone to wear, but this one has been preserved better than most. Unless you find one in original shrink wrap, it will almost be guaranteed to have ring and ubbing wear. This one has just a hint of rubbing to a couple corners (see photos) Seams are nice, no splits. Spine is nice and tight, probably never been opened flat completely. Overall, a beautifully preserved, attractive and highly collectible original. Grade: Excellent Plus (EX+). Vinyl is also very nice, still retains its original shine. Side Two looks generally clean. Looks like this record has been played a few times but handled with care. Spot-Tested : Audio quality is very good for an early’70s WB pressing, but not audiophile clean. Has some faint pressing noise on the lead-in grooves but once the music kicks in, it’s not particularly noticeable. Still nice in quiet passages, but again, not audiophile quiet. Still an enjoyable listen. Grade: Very Good Plus (VG+). How I Pack Your Records : I remove the records with inner sleeves from the covers prior to packing. I sandwich the record between two pieces of cardboard for padding and protection.
