This is an original 1970s-early 1980s Warner Bros Pepé Le Pew commercial display plush, produced for department store and mall promotional use, not for retail toy sales. Pepé Le Pew (Looney Tunes – Warner Bros). City Star, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Late 1970s – Early 1980s. This figure retains its original blue “New Reworked Material” tag, which was legally required on commercial display plush in Canada during this period. City Star (Montreal, Quebec). Permit (Canadian safety regulation used 1970s-80s). “Shell made in Korea”. The face features multi-layer felt appliqué and embroidery, not printed fabric or plastic eyes, which is typical of high-end store display production from this era. The white hair tuft is nylon display wig fiber, the same type used on mascot heads and large promotional figures, no longer used in modern plush. Very good vintage condition. Fur is full and unfaded. Tail is intact and fluffy. Jacket and bow tie present. Face and nose clean. No tears or repairs. No smoke or pet odor. Minor age-appropriate wear may be present, but this piece displays extremely well. Why This Is Special. Pepé Le Pew was produced in far lower numbers than Bugs Bunny, Tweety, or Sylvester for commercial displays, making this character especially difficult to find in large format. These display figures were typically discarded after promotions, which is why surviving examples are now highly sought after by Warner Bros, animation, and movie-prop collectors.
